Description

“Azure color” — a single blue flower on a thin stem, with splashes of blue around it.

What the picture shows

The flower is seen from the front and takes the upper third of the design. The petals are blue, with lilac and violet in the depth and pale, almost transparent edges; the centre is dark blue with fine dots. The stem is drawn as one thin grey line that curls into a loose loop at the bottom, as if the hand never left the paper. Blue splashes of different sizes fly off to the left and above, from small dots to larger patches. Thirteen thread colours across 23 m — one of the shortest kits in the series. The fabric is left plain, and the emptiness around is what makes the flower stand out. The petals are stitched loosely, with gaps, so the flower looks half-transparent even when finished. The splashes fall to the left of the flower, so the balance of the piece is slightly shifted.
