Description

“Another beauty” shows a white raven perched on a rowan branch. On black fabric the pale bird looks almost drawn in chalk.

What the picture shows

The bird is turned in profile and fills the centre of the design: its plumage is stitched in white, grey and cool blue, every wing feather outlined separately, the beak and feet dark. The branch runs from the bottom left corner up to the right, carrying clusters of red-orange berries and broad green leaves with clear veins. The colours are simple and contrasting: white, green and red on black. The black fabric is not stitched — it stays as background and keeps the silhouette sharp. Of the 26 thread colours, most go into the shades of the plumage. The breast feathers lie in small scales, the wing carries long feathers with clear borders, and separate shafts show in the tail. The berries are gathered into two clusters, and each has a light highlight and a short dark stalk.
