Description

“Above the sky” shows an aircraft over a city at the hour when the clouds catch warm light.

What the picture shows

A passenger plane crosses the whole picture diagonally: pale fuselage, blue wing, engines beneath it. Behind it the sky is whipped into dense waves of blue, turquoise and gold, and the silhouettes of tall city buildings appear below. Branches of pink cherry blossom curl along the lower edge and up one side. Count 18 canvas gives a fine stitch, so the transitions in the sky come out almost painterly. The clouds are built from long bands of blue, turquoise and gold, and the fuselage from pale greys. The kit holds 44 thread colours and 109 m of cotton.
