“A star is falling” — a fluffy cat lifting its head to a falling star in a dark blue sky.

What the picture shows

The cat sits with its back to the viewer, in profile to the star, and its silhouette is built from hundreds of coloured strands — pink, turquoise, lemon, lilac — laid in waves from the back to the tail. From a distance the figure reads as one light patch; close up you can see that no strand repeats its neighbour. The tail is raised and curved, the ears alert. A yellow star with a thin trail shines at the upper right, with small light dots scattered around. Thirty-nine thread colours are exactly what such motley fur needs. The dark blue canvas stays open and works as the night sky. The cat is shifted to the left and the star to the upper right corner, with empty sky between them holding the pause.
