Description

“A floral moment” is a round bouquet of tulips, an anemone and lemons. The composition is gathered into a circle, like a wreath on a light ground.

What the picture shows

In the centre is a large white anemone with a yellow heart and dark stamens. Around it are lilac and pink tulips at different stages of opening, blue cornflowers, small violet blooms and two yellow lemons — one at the top left, one below. The leaves are light green and grey-green, with thin tendrils reaching beyond the circle. A blurred ochre patch runs along the edge, marking the shape before fading into the white fabric. Count 18 fabric and 56 thread colours explain the high difficulty: the gradations inside the petals are very fine. The tulips are shown at different stages: one tightly closed, another half open, a third already showing its heart. Pores show on the lemon peel, the cornflowers have deeply cut petals, and the tendrils along the edge are worked in a single thread without fill.
