The Ukrainian prayer to Nicholas the Wonderworker is printed on the back of this banner.

What the picture shows

On the printed icon the bishop wears a tall mitre set with blue stones and a white omophorion with crosses over red-orange vestments; a panagia hangs on his chest, his left hand holds a Gospel in a decorated cover and his right is raised in blessing. The ground is yellow with fine plant scrollwork. Only the border is beaded: a solid red field with large white and pink oval beads set among gold bugles at the top and bottom, and a gold edge around the whole piece. The relief of the oval beads shows even at this small size. Gold bugle beads along the edge hold the border together and separate it from the printed field.
