“Prayer for help in teaching” carries the most detailed image in this series of banners.

What the picture shows

The Mother of God and the Child are shown together in a single red-and-gold robe that widens downwards like a bell; both wear crowns. Angels with candles stand around them on clouds, red six-winged seraphim and two lamps appear above, city towers below, and golden stars fill the deep blue ground. All of this is printing on the canvas. The bands at the top and bottom are beaded: blue laid as a solid field with white and gold beads forming large diamonds, and a gold edge around the piece. The blue beads pick up the colour of the icon’s ground. The prayer text on the back is printed in Russian. All the small details make the image look complex, though only two bands are actually stitched.
