Description

The “Guardian-Angel Prayer” banner combines a printed image with a hand-beaded border, and the prayer on its back is printed in Ukrainian.

What the picture shows

In the centre the Guardian Angel stands in a cream tunic and a green-and-orange cloak, wings open, holding a cross on a tall staff; there is a green hill underfoot and a warm ochre ground with a thin halo behind. The icon is printed on the canvas and stays that way; the beads go around it. Red and gold beads fill the wide border field, white four-petal flowers are worked at the top and bottom, and a row of gold bugle beads runs along each side. In this small format the beads sit close together, so the border reads as one continuous embroidered ribbon.
