Description

“Tree” is a string art piece with a spreading tree and the word FAMILY beneath it; the design is meant as a family symbol.

What the picture shows

A tree with a black trunk grows on the dark brown base: the thread is wound in dense layers, so the trunk looks almost solid, and thin roots spread downward from it. The crown is made of some thirty separate leaves, each outlined with its own row of nails and filled with thread. The shades alternate — dark green, grass green, lime and an almost yellow-green — so the crown never looks flat. Below, six letters spell out the word FAMILY, worked in the same green thread over an outline of nails. There are four colours in all. The dark wood of the base is visible between the threads everywhere and serves as the background. The leaves vary in size and turn in different directions, so the crown looks natural rather than assembled from identical templates.
