Description

“Pineapple” is a string art piece with a tropical fruit on dark wood.

What the picture shows

The pineapple stands upright in the centre of the base. The fruit is worked in yellow thread with a golden-brown thread laid across it, producing the diamond lattice of the rind. The crown of long pointed leaves is done in two shades of green and outlined in white, so the top looks lighter than the fruit. Nails run around the whole outline and become part of the drawing themselves. Four colours are used: yellow, golden brown, green and white. The dark brown base shows through the thread and acts as the background — this technique never fills a shape solidly. The leaves of the crown fan out beyond the edge of the fruit, so the upper part of the piece is light and open while the lower part is dense and full of yellow.
