Description

“Owl” is a string art piece with an owl perched on a branch among small red leaves.

What the picture shows

The bird faces the viewer on a dark wooden base. Head and breast are worked in mint green, the face is white with a yellow triangular beak and two round eyes. The folded wings are broken into bands — dark blue, yellow and blue again with white dots — which build a feather-like pattern. At the foot the claws rest on a branch laid out in pale thread. Six small red leaves are scattered around the head. Six colours are used: mint, white, blue, yellow, red and a light beige for the branch. The threads are stretched between nails, so a mesh stays inside the shapes and the dark wood shows through it. The bands on the wings run at a slight angle, so the bird seems to lean forward a little, while the white face holds the centre of the composition.
