Description

“Mittens” is a winter string art piece with a pair of red mittens hanging from a cord.

What the picture shows

The two mittens hang side by side on a dark wooden base, the left one a little higher, the right one lower and closer to the centre. Both are worked in red thread with green cuffs, and a deep burgundy edging of nails runs around the outline. A six-pointed snowflake is laid out in white on each mitten. At the top the mittens are tied to a green cord that runs upward and ends in a bow — this too is strung on nails. There are four colours: red, green, white and burgundy. The threads lie in crossing layers, so the colour inside is uneven and the wood shows through in places. The two mittens are tilted differently: one turned palm outward, the other slightly to the side, and that is what keeps the pair lively rather than mirrored.
