Description

“Love” is a string art piece with two cats and a pair of hearts above them.

What the picture shows

Two hearts hang at the top of the dark brown base: the left one worked in orange-red thread, the right in a deep red, both outlined with nails with pale heads. Below sit a cat and a she-cat, back to back. The left silhouette is black with a white bow at the neck; the right is white, with a red bow and a curled tail resting along its side. The curve of the backs and the tails are marked out with nails, so the shapes read even where the thread lies more thinly. Four colours are used: black, white, red and a warm orange-red. The wood shows through the thread, and the dark tone sets off the white figure. The hearts differ in size and sit at different angles, so the top of the composition avoids symmetry and balances the pair of cats below.
