Description

“Leaf fall” sets three autumn leaves and a mug with lettering on a dark wooden base.

What the picture shows

The upper row is taken by the leaves: the left one pale yellow with orange veins, the middle one red and yellow with a cut edge like an oak leaf, the right one rounded and orange-yellow. Each is built from thread stretched between nails along the veins, so open cells remain inside. Below stands a large mug with a handle: the body is worked in two shades of red, the surface of the drink inside is deep burgundy, and the word fall is written on the side in white thread. Seven colours are used, all within a warm autumn range from pale yellow to burgundy. The dark wood between the threads acts as the background. The leaves turn in different directions and hang on thin thread stalks, so the upper part stays light while the mug below anchors the composition with the weight of its colour.
