Description

“Elephant” is a string art piece with a small elephant holding a bunch of balloons in its trunk.

What the picture shows

At the foot of the dark wooden base stands a grey elephant in profile: a round body, one large ear, a raised trunk and a lifted tail. Thin thread strings run up from the trunk to a bunch of seven balloons — yellow, grey and white — gathered in the upper corner. Another yellow patch marks the ear. There are four colours: two shades of grey, white and yellow. The balloons and the body are filled densely, while the strings are simply straight lengths of thread and read as fine lines. The dark wood shows through the whole piece and serves as the background. The yellow balloon next to the ear and the small gaps between threads keep the figure light, so the elephant never looks heavy despite the amount of grey.
