Description

“Cactus” is a string art piece with a house plant in a white pot that has just come into pink flower.

What the picture shows

Against a light wooden base stands a cactus of three stems: a tall central one and two rounder side ones. The stems are worked in two shades of green — darker in the middle, lighter at the edges — so the shape gains volume. Three flowers have opened at the top and to the side, laid out in pink thread with pointed petals. The pot below is done in white and fills the lower third of the piece, its rim marked off as a separate band. The palette is short: two greens, pink and white. The thread runs from nail to nail and leaves an open mesh inside, through which the grain of the wood is visible. No spines are marked on the cactus — the shape is held only by the nails around each stem and the light gaps between the layers of green thread, so the plant reads as graphic rather than lifelike.
