Description

“St. Zacharias” is a mini icon of the venerable monk in his schema. The darkest image in the batch: black and silver instead of the reds usual in this series. Size 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown half-length in a koukoulion and schema woven from black and pale grey beads; small light dots run in even rows like a cross pattern stitched into the cloth. A violet undergarment shows beneath the schema. His face is lean, with a long dark-blond beard. His right hand is folded in blessing, his left is pressed to his chest with a dark prayer bead between the fingers. The halo is gathered from amber rings, and the golden rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A light three-line cartouche sits below, with red and gold rosettes in the corners.
