Description

“St. Yaroslav” is a mini icon of the holy prince holding a model of a church. It is the largest piece in the batch by count: about 2,211 beads on a field of 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The prince is shown half-length, with a dark beard and high cheekbones. A low crown set with pearls and coloured stones sits on his head. His dress is pale, blue-pearl in tone, with red rectangular panels on the sleeves and a violet lining below; a blue cloak lies over it. In his left hand he holds a model of a white church with blue domes and gold crosses, his right pressed to his chest. The halo is a broad ring of amber beads. The rays behind stay as print on the art canvas; beads cover the figure, the church, the halo and the border. A three-line cartouche sits below, with gold rosettes on either side.
