Description

“St. Veniamin” is a mini icon of the hieromartyr metropolitan: the saint in a white klobuk against a golden glow. Vertical format, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown half-length in bishop’s vestments. The white klobuk with its red cross is worked in small pale beads; beneath it are a reddish beard and a calm face. The mantle is dark, woven from bronze and black tones, and over it lies a red sakkos with a jewelled breast panel gathered from beads of many colours. His right hand is folded in blessing, his left holds a small gold cup. Halo and border are beaded as well, while the yellow rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A light cartouche with a three-line inscription sits below, with gold rosettes in the corners.
