Description

“St. Valentine” is a bishop in a green phelonion with a red Gospel book. Green with a white-and-blue omophorion.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, with a grey beard. The phelonion is worked in green beads of two tones, and a wide white-and-blue omophorion marked with dark crosses lies over it. His left hand holds a red Gospel book with gold trim at his chest, his right is raised in blessing. The halo is a ring of amber beads and the ground is golden rays. A plaque in a gold frame finishes the image at the bottom, and the corners on either side are filled with fine red-and-gold ornament. The vestments, the ring of the halo and the border are beaded; the face, the hands and the gold ground are left to the print.
