Description

“St.Ustin” is a mini icon of the martyr in a red maphorion with a gold cross in her hand. The piece is vertical, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown facing forward in a red maphorion that covers her head and falls to the foot of the image as one solid field, edged with a thin gold border. A green dress with vertical gold stripes shows beneath the veil. In her right hand she holds a gold cross on a short shaft. The halo is gathered from red and amber beads in several rings — a rare case in this series where the halo echoes the colour of the robe. The rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche sits below, flanked by gold rosettes.
