Description

“St.Tikhon” is a mini icon of the patriarch: the saint in a white klobuk and a dark bishop’s mantle. Upright format, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown elderly, with a broad white beard and a calm gaze. The klobuk is white, strung with pearl beads and topped with a small gold cross; two long pale veils fall from it over his shoulders. The mantle is dark, almost black, with pale blue and white bands along its edges. A panagia and a cross hang on gold chains at his chest, worked in amber beads. His right hand is folded in blessing, his left steadies a staff. The halo is a ring of amber beads, and the rays behind stay as print on the art canvas, showing between the rows of stitching.
