Description

“St. Tarasius (Taras)” is a mini icon of the bishop in a sand-coloured phelonion with a green omophorion. Format 100×150 mm; one of the simplest kits in the batch, with only ten colours.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown elderly, with a long grey beard and a high forehead. His phelonion is a warm sandy beige set in small beads of three close shades, which makes the cloth look soft. Over it lies a broad emerald omophorion marked with red and gold crosses. In his hands he holds a Gospel in a red and gold binding. The halo is gathered from amber rings, and the golden rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche sits below, the second name given in brackets, with beaded rosettes in the corners.
