Description

“St. Taisiya” is a mini icon of the venerable saint, half-length, restrained in colour and very small at 100×150 mm. It is stitched for oneself, or as a gift for someone of that name.

What the picture shows

The saint wears a blue maphorion with a small gold cross above her brow; over it lies a dark mantle woven from bronze, black and copper beads, with a green tunic showing beneath. Her hands are folded on her chest, a slim pale cross between the fingers. Face and hands stay as smooth print, which sets them off clearly against the relief of the beads. Yellow rays spread out behind the figure: these too are printed on the canvas, while the beads fill the figure, the halo and the border. A light cartouche with the inscription sits below on a band of gold with red rosettes in the corners.
