Description

“St. Sophia” is a martyr in a red veil with a gold cross in her hand. Red, white and blue.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, her head slightly turned. A red veil falls from her head onto her shoulders and covers her back, with white sleeves worked in pale beads and a blue band of the underdress showing beneath. Her right hand, raised to her chest, holds a gold cross. The halo is amber and the ground is golden rays with a few red dots at the top. A gold border with square rosettes at the corners runs along the edge of the canvas, and a plaque with the saint's name lies at the bottom. The clothing, the halo and the border are beaded; the face, the hands and the golden rays stay printed on the canvas.
