“St. Sergius” is an elderly monk with his hand raised in blessing. A green-and-turquoise palette, rare in this series.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, with a long white beard and a high forehead. The monastic robe is worked in green and turquoise beads in several tones, with a darker undergarment showing beneath. His right hand is raised in blessing, his left holds a pale scroll. The halo is a ring of amber beads with golden rays fanning out widely behind it and a few red dots along the top of the canvas. The beading takes the robe, the halo and the plaque frame, while the face and hands remain printed, and the radiance stays print as well.
