Description

“St. Ruslan” is a mini icon of the martyr: a grey-haired saint in a green phelonion holding a Gospel book. Upright format, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown half-length, with a high forehead and a long white beard. His phelonion is grass green, set in two shades so that the folds read across it. Over the phelonion lies a broad white omophorion strung with pearl beads and marked with red and gold crosses. With both hands he holds a Gospel in a red binding with gold trim before his chest. The halo is a ring of amber beads, and the golden rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche sits below, the second name given in brackets, with red and gold rosettes on gold in the corners.
