Description

“St. Rodion” is a mini icon of the apostle: a grey-haired man in a green himation against a golden glow. Upright format, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The apostle is shown half-length, in three-quarter view. His hair and beard are grey with a cool silvery cast, his face calm. The himation is one large green field in which lighter beads are laid so that deep folds read across it; a blue-violet tunic shows beneath. His hands are folded low, a small pale object between the fingers. The halo is gathered from two rings, an inner brick red and an outer gold. The rays behind are not stitched — they stay as print on the art canvas, so the green robe stands clearly above the ground. A three-line cartouche runs below.
