Description

“St. Praskovya” is a mini icon of the great-martyr with a cross and an open scroll. The piece is vertical, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown facing forward in a blue and white diadem, her chestnut hair falling from under it onto her shoulders. Her cloak is a dense red with a gold cross at the shoulder; a blue robe in two shades shows beneath. In her right hand she holds a small red cross on a slim shaft, in her left an open scroll bearing a prayer text worked in pale beads. The halo is gathered from amber rings, and the golden rays behind stay as print on the canvas. A three-line cartouche sits below, flanked by gold rosettes on red, and a narrow beaded strip runs around the edge.
