Description

“St. Platon” is a mini icon of the martyr in violet with a rolled scroll. The piece is vertical, 100×150 mm, and the richest in small detail in this part of the series.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown young, with chestnut hair and a short beard. His robe is violet-lilac set in two shades; rectangular panels on the chest and sleeve are woven from red, gold and white beads in a fine pattern. His right hand is raised, a slim pale object between the fingers; in his left he holds a rolled scroll worked in pale blue beads. Strands of pearl beads sit at the collar and on the shoulder. The halo is gathered from amber rings, and the rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche runs below.
