Description

“St. Pauline” is a mini icon of the venerable saint with an open scroll. An upright image of 100×150 mm, often stitched as a gift for someone of that name.

What the picture shows

A blue maphorion edged with pearl beads covers the saint’s head, with small red crosses above her brow and on her shoulder. Below it is a broad ochre-gold mantle set in warm amber and sand tones, with a dark green tunic showing beneath. Her right hand is raised palm forward, her left holds a large pale scroll bearing a prayer text in Church Slavonic. The halo is gathered from amber rings, and the rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche sits below, flanked by beaded rosettes.
