Description

“St. Nonna” is a mini icon of the righteous saint, built on deep blue and pearl white. A small image of 100×150 mm for a home icon corner, or as a name-day gift.

What the picture shows

A pearl-white veil covers the saint’s head and shoulders, laid out in large pale beads; it frames the face and falls over the shoulders as a broad collar. Below it is one solid field of dense blue robe with a red vertical band of folds. Her right hand is raised palm forward, her left holds a small scroll. The halo is gathered from two rings, dark amber and gold. The rays behind stay as print on the canvas: only the figure, the halo and the border are beaded, so the figure reads almost as a relief. A three-line cartouche runs along the foot, with gold rosettes on either side.
