Description

“St. Moses” is a mini icon of the prophet with an open scroll. It is the most economical kit in this part of the series: about 1,722 beads and eleven colours on a field of 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The prophet is shown half-length, with curly dark-blond hair and a short beard. His outer cloak is a bright red laid in even rows, with a blue tunic showing beneath. In his left hand he holds a large pale scroll edged with pearl beads; the scroll carries a text in Church Slavonic, and his right hand points to it. The halo is gathered from amber and gold rings. The rays behind are not stitched: they stay as print on the art canvas, which is what makes the red cloak stand out so clearly. A two-line cartouche runs below.
