“St. Mary” is a saint holding a red egg in her raised hand and a gold vessel in the other. A lilac palette sets this icon apart from the rest.

What the picture shows

The saint stands slightly turned, her head bowed. The veil and outer robe are worked in lilac and mauve beads, with a darker underdress and a gold edge at the neck showing beneath. Her raised right hand holds a small red egg, her left a gold vessel with a lid. The halo is amber and the ground is golden rays with red dots at the top. A gold border with square rosettes at the corners runs along the edge of the canvas, and a plaque with the saint's name lies at the bottom. The robes, the ring of the halo and the border are beaded; the face, the palms and the gold ground are left to the print.
