Description

“St. Margaret” is a great martyr with a cross in her raised hand and a white scroll in the other. Red with a dark headdress.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist in a dark headdress that closely covers her head and falls onto her shoulders. The outer robe is red, worked in beads of two tones so the folds read clearly. Her raised right hand holds a dark cross, her left, lowered to the waist, a pale rolled scroll. The halo is a ring of amber beads and the ground is golden rays. A gold border with square rosettes at the corners runs along the edge of the canvas, and a plaque with the saint's name lies at the bottom. The headdress, the robe, the ring of the halo and the border are beaded; the face, the hands and the gold ground are left to the print.
