Description

“St. Juliana” is a mini icon of the princess: the saint in red with a pearled cap over her veil. An upright image, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

A dark cherry cap edged with small pale beads covers the saint’s head, and from beneath it a pale blue veil falls over her shoulders in a broad triangle. Her robe is red, covered with white and gold pattern like embroidered cloth; a green panel runs down the front, and both hands rest calmly upon it. The halo is gathered from amber and red beads in several rings. The rays behind the figure stay as print on the canvas. Below sits a three-line cartouche, flanked by broad corner fields of beaded ornament on gold.
