Description

“St. Joseph” is a mini icon of the venerable saint: a grey-haired elder with open palms against the green of his robe. Size 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown as an old man with a high forehead, a receding hairline and a long white beard falling to his chest. His mantle is grass green, laid in vertical rows of beads that read as folds; a dark red schema lies on his shoulders, and a blue undergarment shows below the mantle. Both palms are open before his chest in prayer. The halo is gathered from two rings of gold and amber beads. The rays behind the figure stay as print on the canvas and remain visible between the rows of stitching. A light three-line cartouche sits below, with red and gold rosettes in the corners.
