Description

“St. Faina” is a mini icon of the martyr, her gaze lifted and one hand raised in prayer. An upright image, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint’s face is turned upward and slightly aside, which makes the image livelier than the others in the series. A white and pale blue veil covers her head, gathered from large light beads that run in fine rows around her face and fall over her shoulders as a wide collar. Her robe is a dark, almost cherry red with folds of a deeper shade; a blue drape shows from beneath it on the right. Her right hand is raised before her chest with a pale cuff at the wrist, the left hidden in the folds of the cloak. The halo is gathered from amber rings, and the golden rays stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche runs below, flanked by gold rosettes on red.
