Description

“St. Eudocia” is a mini icon of the venerable saint in a green veil and blue robe. Upright format, 100×150 mm; the figure fills almost the whole field.

What the picture shows

An emerald-green maphorion covers the saint’s head, with a small gold cross above her brow; the folds of the veil are laid in two greens, which makes the cloth look heavy. Below is a large field of dense blue robe in which the beads run in even horizontal rows. In her right hand she holds a slim dark cross, her left is raised before her chest. A golden band runs along the lower edge of the robe. The halo is gathered from amber rings, and the yellow rays behind the figure stay as print on the art canvas, showing between the rows of stitching. A light three-line cartouche sits below, with red and gold rosettes in the corners.
