Description

“St. Anna” is a prophetess in a bright blue veil. The strongest colour pair in the batch — blue against red.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, strictly frontal. The veil is worked in saturated blue beads that frame the face in dense rows and fall over the shoulders. A large red field of clothing runs below, with two pale green ribbons trailing down from it. Both hands are raised to her chest and hold a narrow pale scroll. The halo is a double ring of dark and amber beads and the ground is golden rays. A plaque in a gold frame finishes the image at the bottom, and the corners on either side are filled with fine red-and-gold ornament. Beads take the veil, the robe, the halo and the border, while the face and hands stay printed on the canvas, and the radiance behind is print too.
