Description

“St. Alexis” is a young saint in blue with his arms crossed on his chest. The calmest palette in the series — only eight colours.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist: dark hair, a short beard, the head slightly bowed. The clothing is built from blue beads in two tones — lighter wide sleeves and a darker shirt gathered by a narrow belt. Both arms are folded across the chest. The halo is picked out in amber beads, golden rays fan out behind it, and small red accents sit along the top of the canvas. A plaque in a gold frame finishes the image at the bottom, and the corners on either side are filled with fine red-and-gold ornament. The clothing, the halo and the border are beaded; the face, the hands and the golden rays stay printed on the canvas.
