Description

“St. Agnes” is a mini icon of the martyr: a young saint in a wreath, her chestnut hair loose. The piece is vertical, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown in three-quarter view with her head inclined. A green wreath with gold and red berries sits on her hair, worked in small beads. Her hair falls over her shoulders in two long strands. Her cloak is a dense red, and a pale cloth is laid diagonally across her chest in white, cream and yellow beads — this is what carries the composition. A gold collar of small amber beads sits at her neck. The halo is gathered from several rings, and the rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche sits below, with beaded rosettes on either side.
