Description

“St.Agatha” is a mini icon of the great-martyr in pale blue with a dark cross in her hand. An upright image, 100×150 mm.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown facing forward in a low diadem of red and white beads, with strands of pearls falling from it over her shoulders. Her mantle is a pale, almost icy blue set in two light shades; a violet band of the robe runs down the centre, with a red insert at the neck. Her right hand is raised palm forward, her left holds a dark eight-pointed cross with an amber centre. The halo is a broad ring of amber beads, and the rays behind stay as print on the art canvas. A three-line cartouche and corner rosettes sit below.
