What the picture shows

The kittens sit facing each other with their noses touching; their backs and tails are striped dark green and their ears are pointed. A yellow umbrella is open above them, its rim entirely worked in pink beads. The same beads make the clusters of flowers around — on the umbrella, between the kittens and in the corners — while darker crimson ones gather into denser blooms at the edges. The ground is white and strewn with lilac hearts left as print. 105 beads, the fewest in this batch. The background is not stitched: it is printed on the canvas and shows between the beads, so the picture is built on the play of print against raised beadwork. The piece is small and easy to carry along or save for an evening when you want to make something by hand.
