Description

“Owl – 3” is a purple owl with its chick sheltering under an orange umbrella.

What the picture shows

The big owl holds the little one under its wing, and both look up with round ginger eyes. Lilac beads trace the adult bird's head, back and tail in a dense outline, while white pearl beads ring the eyes, cover the breast and mark the chick's head. The same white beads stand for the drops falling from the sky, with one caught on the umbrella. The ground is a deep blue with light swirls and stays as print. 118 beads in two colours. The canvas is not filled edge to edge — the beads follow the main lines and the rest stays printed, which is why the piece reads as a drawing rather than a solid beaded carpet. Preciosa beads are calibrated and even in size, so the rows come out straight without sorting them first.
