Description

“Gold crest” is a dark rooster with a green tail and a yellow comb against a night sky.

What the picture shows

The rooster stands on a green mound with its neck stretched upward. Dark green beads build the full tail curving in an arc and the band of grass under its feet; yellow ones cover the comb, the wattles, the neck and the breast, and also gather into flowers scattered over the blue sky. A large pale moon rises behind, and pastel round trees with orange and pink fruit stand behind the bird. The drawing is decorative, almost like a woven rug. 161 beads in two colours. The background is not stitched: it is printed on the canvas and shows between the beads, so the picture is built on the play of print against raised beadwork. The piece is small and easy to carry along or save for an evening when you want to make something by hand.
