Description

“Winter miracle” shows a mouse in a striped cap standing on a pink gift box and reaching towards a big red poinsettia.

What the picture shows

The flower opens across almost half the piece: the petals are worked in red and deep garnet beads, the centre in gold, and a second smaller poinsettia star opens on the right. The stem and two broad leaves are green, the pot terracotta with a gold rim. The mouse in a red-and-white cap and a light green scarf is outlined in gold beads, while its face and fur stay as watercolour printing. The box below is tied with a white ribbon and carries a small tag. The blue printed background with its painted snowflakes stays as it is, with dozens of white and blue beaded snowflakes worked over it: on art canvas the beads never cover the whole surface. The poinsettia takes the most time: each petal holds several rows of red beads in different tones, from light to almost black. The snowflakes are all alike — six or seven beads each — so they go quickly.
