Description

“Weightless tenderness” is a large dandelion head on a curling stem.

What the picture shows

The flower opens as a circle and fills the upper half: thin rays run out from a dark centre, each ending in a small fluffy star. It is worked in powder pink, beige and greyish brown beads. Below, the stem coils into decorative spirals with small leaves branching off. A few seeds have drifted up and to the side. The pale blue ground is almost featureless; it stays printed, which keeps the silhouette airy. The rays are beaded one bead at a time, with gaps deliberately left between them. The spirals of the stem curl in different directions and do not repeat each other, so the lower part never looks like a symmetrical stamp. The drifting seeds are scattered on a diagonal and set the direction of the wind in the piece.
