Description

“Warmth together” shows two bullfinches pressed side by side on a snowy branch with red berries.

What the picture shows

The birds sit together in the centre: their breasts are worked in crimson and red beads with pink highlights, backs and heads in grey and black, wings outlined in dark rows. A berried branch crosses the piece diagonally — the branch itself in bronze and gold beads, the berries in deep red, with a few more clusters hanging at the top left. The ground is a frosty lilac-blue wash streaked with rime, scattered with small white and silver beads that read as snow. The background stays as printing; the beads take the birds, the branch, the berries and a few frost scrolls. The lumps of snow on the branch are worked in white beads mixed with clear ones, so they do not merge into one solid patch.
