Description

“Violinist and conductor” is a girl with a violin and a bear with a baton over a sheet of music.

What the picture shows

The ground is grey-beige with printed notes and a treble clef. The girl on the left has her eyes closed and holds the violin under her chin; her round glasses are beaded in silver and a gold bow sits in her hair. The dress is red, filled with dense rows of red beads, with a white and gold collar and a frill along the hem; dark beaded shoes finish the figure. On the right a bear in a black-and-white beaded collar raises a gold baton. Gold strips lie below like scattered notes, next to a copper-coloured beaded box. The red of the dress is the only saturated patch among the muted tones, and it is what holds the composition together. The glasses are worked as two circles of pale beads, with the printed face left behind them. The bear is barely beaded at all: the beads go into the collar and the baton. The sheet music on the ground stays printed.
